Martial Arts Near Vancouver, WA
Skip the crowded Vancouver gyms — train BJJ, Muay Thai, and kickboxing with a black belt under Rigan Machado, just outside East Vancouver.
East Vancouver has more BJJ gyms than almost anywhere else in Clark County — but bigger doesn't always mean better fit. Lone Wolf BJJ Academy, about 20-25 minutes from East Vancouver in Washougal, gives Vancouver-area students an alternative: a smaller, closer-knit academy led by a 2nd-degree Black Belt under Rigan Machado, without the scale of a big-city gym.
Several current Lone Wolf students made that exact drive after searching the greater Vancouver area first. Brandon Bond wrote: "We searched all over the Vancouver area for the right school. Don comes from a line of legends in the Jiujitsu/MMA world." Randy Lavasseur, who has trained at gyms across the country, called Lone Wolf "world class" despite its small-town setting.
Vancouver families also get access to a program most other academies in the area don't offer: the Apex Teen Project, Don Stoner's 2022 anti-bullying initiative built to help teens build real confidence.

What Local Students Say
You will not find an instructor with better credentials in Clark County, and in my opinion you will not find a better environment to learn Jiu-Jitsu in either.
